Logging practice yourself
Not every practice happens in kid mode. Your child may have practised at a grandparent's, you may have sat beside them with the notebook in your hand, or you're writing down yesterday's practice tonight. Log it yourself and it counts just the same: in the week, towards the weekly goal and for the day's sticker.
If you keep your own diary, this is also how you log your own practice.
Log a practice
- On your child's page, tap Open notebook next to the instrument.
- Under Practice, tap Log practice.
- Under Day, choose the day of the practice. It's today unless you change it, and it can't be in the future.
- Under Page, the page your child was practising from on that day is already chosen. Choose Not from a page for practice without tasks, such as playing for fun.
Fill it in
- The tasks: tap a bubble for each time through, as your child would in kid mode. Under each task, Tempo (BPM) is for the tempo actually played, if you want to keep it.
- The timer: when the day is today, Start times the practice as it happens. Pause and Go on work as in kid mode.
- Minutes: for a practice that's over, write how long it took in whole minutes, or leave it empty.
- How did practice go?: Hard, Okay or Great, or No answer.
- Note: anything worth remembering, such as "the third bar is still hard".
Tap Save. Practice you log yourself counts at once and never waits for you to confirm it.
The first bubble, timer tap or face fixes the day and the page. To change them, tap Start over: it clears the bubbles, the timer and the face. If you leave the page before saving, those taps are kept for when you come back, but the minutes, the tempos and the note are not: they're saved only with Save.
When kid mode was halfway
If your child started a practice in kid mode and didn't finish it, Log practice shows A practice started in kid mode is waiting. Choose Save it as it is to keep what your child did, or Throw it away.
Correct a practice
Under Practice in the notebook, tap a practice to open it. There you can:
- change the day, the minutes, the face and the note, and tap Save;
- tap Correct on a task to change its Repetitions or tempo, then Save entry;
- Remove a task's entry, or Add an entry for a task that was played but not tapped;
- Delete this practice if it shouldn't be there at all.
Corrections count in the week straight away. More in The week.
