On your home screen
Etudebook isn't in the App Store or Google Play. It runs in the browser, and you can add it to your home screen: it then opens from its own icon and fills the screen, like any other app. There's nothing to download and nothing to update: the app updates itself.
Why add it
- It opens with one tap, without looking for the address.
- It fills the screen, with no address bar. In kid mode, your child has only the app in front of them.
On an iPhone or iPad
- Open the app in your browser, usually Safari, and sign in.
- Tap the Share button: a square with an arrow pointing up. If you don't see it, tap ⋯ first.
- Tap Add to Home Screen. You may need to scroll down the list.
- Tap Add.
The Etudebook icon appears on your home screen. You stay signed in, so open the app from the icon from now on.
On an Android phone or tablet
- Open the app in Chrome and sign in.
- Tap ⋮ at the top right.
- Tap Add to home screen or Install app. If Chrome asks, choose Install.
The icon appears on your home screen or in your list of apps. Other browsers, such as Samsung Internet and Firefox, have the same step in their menu.
Signing in on the home screen
A sign-in link would open in the browser, so the app on your home screen asks for a code instead whenever you need to sign in again, for example after signing out:
- Write your email address and tap Send me a code.
- Open the email and type the 6-digit code under Code from the email.
- Tap Continue.
The code works once, for 15 minutes, and only in the app that asked for it. If it doesn't work, tap Send a new code.
Removing the icon
Remove the icon as you would any app: press and hold it and choose to remove it. Your account and your notebooks stay, and you can still open the app in the browser. If you've practised offline, open the app online first, so that everything is saved.
